Description
For size reference the largest rectangle in the base of the plastic box is 126mm x 90mm. You can also just make out the very short tail. Estimated SNVL of 290mm. Keys out to Suta nigriceps in SA Museum's Keys to snakes, 2024. But John Fowler & Rachel Barnes @john1733 indicated those in our area (SA, Murraylands) are missidentified: http://reptilesofaustralia.com/snakes/elapids/Suta_dwyeri_and_nigriceps.html I initially thought a baby brown, so was very nervous about handling it. First an insect box that it got out of, then a larger opaque plastic box that it couldn't climb. However, it wasn't aggressive like baby browns. And the black stripe, with reddish brown sides didn't seem right. Found in the garage; almost trod on it when I went to the loo last night.
