Coastal Carpet Python in Mareeba (Mar 2025)

This snake was loosely coiled on the branch when a Butcherbird alerted me to its presence this morning. I had it under observation off and on for about nine hours, hoping that it would reveal some features that would allow me to identify the individual. But as the birds persisted with their attacks, it contracted into a tight ball, and stayed that way most of the day. Then around dusk it moved on.
